Hi all
It would be grateful if anyone could give me some advice regarding what to do next. To go to where I want to go, I think a re-take is a must .
The biggest problem I have now is I am not sure what strategy/study material to use for my next re-take.
I took 2nd GMAT last Wednesday and scored 670 with Q47, V35, IR6. AWA TBD(guess will be 4). My first GMAT was a complete humiliation.....
Having purchased the enhanced score report, I learned that
In Quant: section scores were not too far off, probably committed more mistakes in problem solving so that my PS is a bit lower (PS @44, DS@49)
In Verbal: SC @73% (eqv V35), RC@51% (eqv V28) and CR@94% (eqv V44)
I must admit that luck was on my side on some CR questions. I was behind the time so I had to take a few guesses. was at Question 2X with less than 20 minutes remaining. then the test gave me an ultra lengthy RC on a really foreign topic . gave up after reading the first/two paragraph since I realised I wasn't taking in anything..
Study materials:
OG15
E-GMAT verbal ( I have @
E-gmat V&Q package, but found some of its quant questions are more difficult than real GMAT questions. But its Quant concepts are good)
Economist Quant (which I found quite useful on the skills such as plug-in and ballparking)
GMAT Prep and Prep 1 Question pack plus the extra exam pack. ( reset twice to make sure I have done every hard question)
Of course, I'll need to improve my speed further so that I don't run behind the clock at my next test.
I've gone through
OG twice and reviewed every question I got wrong in
OG &
E-GMAT verbal.
So if I go back to the previous materials I use, I guess I will mostly be recalling my memories for the correct answer but not learning new skills
I am working full time so only have 2-3 hrs/ weekday and 5-6 hrs at weekends to study. My plan is to retake within a month.
Target score: 710
What would you suggest me to use as study material for my next retake ? should I continue to use current materials or I should purchase new study materials for example
MGMAT SC/Advanced quant / Powerscore CR bible ?
Speaking of school choices..
People look for best fit when chossing B-school. Since meeting March deadline with a better score is almost impossible.
Originally I wanted to apply for Oxford/Cambridge/INSEAD and LBS, but now the chance for 2016 Sep intake @Oxbridge/LBS is certainly 0.
I'll just apply INSEAD for Jan 17 intake
Thanks everyone for insightful advice and suggestions
