Hello All,
I have my GMAT scheduled on July 26th. I took a GMAT prep test and landed with a 610 (48Q, 25V). Clearly verbal is my weakest area. I answered 17 questions wrong (6 RC, 9 SC and 2 CR). Below are the stats from OG 2018 practice questions I did so far.

Difficulty level | Correct | Incorrect
Easy 33 17
Medium 11 16
Hard 0 6

I am just half way through and losing confidence on SC. I have 66 % success rate on Easy questions and 40% on medium ( 0 on Hard questions). I am not sure what to do though. I prepared for 3 months. I tried reading manhattan SC, but could not understand much of it. I used Aristotle SC so far and it seems like a mistake to me. I barely have 3 weeks.

I am targeting around 680 and applying for 2019 schools (Part time MBA). I can spend an average of 2-3 hours per day until the exam. I do have access to 6 MGMAT tests which I havent used so far ( just adding more info )

Hi sateesh611,

A little less than 2 months ago, you reported that your initial practice CAT Score was a 580 (which was about a month prior to when you posted - here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-is-2-mo ... l#p2061919)

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your initial CAT result and this recent result show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 600 +/- a few points). It's possible that you have gotten 'stuck' at this score level - and if that's the case, then you would likely need at least another 1-2 months of consistent, guided study to hit your Score Goal (AND we would have to work to define any 'bad habits' that you may have developed over the last few months - and work to fix those bad habits).

1) Do you have the flexibility to push back your Test Date?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Thank you Rich for the reply. Yes, it is annoying that my score is been consistently the same over the last 2-3 months.

1) Do you have the flexibility to push back your Test Date? [Sateesh]Technically, Yes I can. However, given my current scenario at work, I might have to push the GMAT to november timeframe which changes a lot of things ( I would like to apply for R1)
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week? [Sateesh] I could probably spend 20-30 hours per week ( excluding any tests I take) for the next 3 weeks (until my test).

Dissect the reason for why your score isn't improving. Each successive time are you answering a question wrong that you really should have gotten correct? Are you making the same mistake over and over again and not learning from it? Or do new types of questions keep popping up that you have never seen before and just aren't able to answer correctly because of something more fundamental? Or is the question tricky in its wording and you got tripped up?

During your SC studies, we encourage you to follow along expert video explanations to guide you in your thought process.

Thank you. Its a good suggestion. I have never grouped my SC failures so far. I should start doing that.Appreciate the videos too.

Hi sateesh611,

You could potentially make some significant improvements to how you handle the Verbal section in the time that you currently have - but the degree of that improvement will depend greatly on how 'flexible' a thinker you are. If you can learn and practice the proper Tactics, that you might find it relatively easy to pick up a bunch of points in the Verbal section (simply be learning to 'see' - and respond to - the Verbal section in different ways). That having been said, if you've developed any 'bad habits' during your prior studies, then it might take longer to fix all of those issues (and replace the bad habits with new 'good habits').
