Taken GMAT 4 Times - Should I take again? [#permalink]

Hello All,

Need some advice. I have taken the GMAT 4 times and maxed out at 700 on the official test - Q: 44 V: 42. I have averaged a 710 on my practice exams (8 of them), and got as high as a 730. When it comes to the actual test, I think I get in my own head though and obviously underperform.

It’s obviously hard for me to sit back and accept a 700 when I know I can do better, but it is a costly endeavor and has consumed my life for over a year. In addition, I also have two concerns when it comes to my current score - 1) My dream school is Duke and I am slightly under Duke’s average GMAT 2) the weakness of my quant score.

If anyone can just give me their opinion on my situation it would be greatly appreciated. This community has done a lot for me in regards to test prep, so I value all opinions very much!

Thanks!

Hi lesh92,

You ask some great questions.

Regarding your 700 GMAT score, when looking at your range of practice test scores, I would not say that it is a total disaster. However, the quant 44 does jump out at me, so if you were able to improve your GMAT quant score, I believe it could go a long way in the admissions process.

With that said, I think it would be a good idea to reach out to some admissions consultants here on GMAT Club to get their opinions.

If you do decide to retake the GMAT, I’d be more than happy to help you with a study plan. In the meantime, you may find it helpful to check out this article I wrote about
how to increase your GMAT quant score.

Please keep me updated and feel free to reach out with any questions.
