The first woman elected to Congress in the United States, many people [#permalink]
The first woman elected to Congress in the United States, many people regard Jeanette Rankin to be a role model because of her committing to peace, as shown by her legislative votes against joining both World Wars.

(A) many people regard Jeanette Rankin to be a role model because of her committing to peace - Opening modifier must modify Jeanette Rankin. Eliminate

(B) many people view Jeanette Rankin to be a role model because of her commitment to peace - same as A

(C) Jeanette Rankin is considered as a role model by many people because of her commitment to peace - The correct idiom is "considered X" and not "considered as X" OR "considered to be X"

(D) many people see Jeanette Rankin as a role model because of her commitment to peace - same as A

(E) Jeanette Rankin is regarded by many people as a role model because of her commitment to peace - Here we have the correct answer. The idiomatic usage is 'regarded as X'

Options (A) , (B) and (D) can be rejected as whatever comes after the highlighted part must be modified and many people is not correct...

Between (C) and (E), will reject (C) as it contains a no no form " considered as " which is idiomatically incorrect, consider x,y is idiomatically correct...

Thus, Answer must be (E)
