This question is not representative of an actual GMAT question. That said, I believe individual answer choices have slight meaning issues. I am not sure whether option A and B are incorrect because of passive voice usage - I see no major grammar error.

Choice C: Subject-Verb Agreement error.
Choice E is wrong because of two grammar errors: Subject-Verb Agreement and Modifier.

Honestly, I don't like the OA, as per option D, the candidate can get victory because of the poll results, it however suggests that the results themselves gave the victory, doubtful.
