The New Age Entertainment Company produces x mood rings at a cost, in cents, of 80x + 9,000. These x mood rings can be sold for a price, in cents, of 260x. What is the least value of x for which the New Age Entertainment Company does not lose money?

A. 107
B. 82
C. 63
D. 51
E. 50

x no. of mood rings. we don't know what is x.

clue: we are told that we have to find out the least value of x for which cost price and selling price both are equal. break even point.

let's calculate for a single mood rings:

80x + 9000 = 260x

180x = 9000

x = 50.

Only option E matches.

Break Even Point question.
Fixed cost + Variable cost(units)= Revenue(units)
Minimum units where the revenue is at a point where no loss or profit is incurred.
80x+9000=260x
180x=9000
x= 50
Hence, E.

"does not lose money" really just means breakeven, which is setting Revenue = Cost.

\(260x = 80x + 9000\)
\(180x = 9000\)
\(x = 50\)

answer E.
