B is clear and concise. The number is singular and should be followed by â€˜isâ€™ not are so D and E are out for that.
A is too wordy with â€œalmost twice as numerous asâ€

B is fine.

A - OUT as numerous as ...

C which clause. Needs comma before it and moreover which can not refer to people (living things).
D,E compare people with number of people..

Yes, I vote B as well.

A) and D) "twice as numerous" is not correct
C) would not use "which" after "number of people"
E) changes the sentence by saying it IS twice, versus ALMOST twice
