(A) 33 = 3*11
(B) 34 = 2*17
(C) 35 = 5 * 7
(E) 37 = 37*1 , next multiple must be 37*2 and so on....

Where as (D) 36 = 2*18 , 3*12 , 4*9 , 6*6 and so on.....

A. A multiple of 33

C. A multiple of 35
D. A multiple of 36
E. A multiple of 37

33 = 3 * 11, both are prime

34 = 2* 17, both are prime

35 = 5* 7, both are prime

36 = 6* 6, not prime

37 = 1* 37, 37 is prime , so 2* 37 can be prime or 3* 37, 5* 37.

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Hi All,

We're told to take the product of 2 prime numbers. We're asked which of the answers is NOT possible. This question can be solved with a mix of TESTing VALUES and TESTing THE ANSWERS.

A. A multiple of 33 -->(3)(11) = 33.... so the product of two primes CAN be a multiple of 33.
B. A multiple of 34-->(2)(17) = 34.... so the product of two primes CAN be a multiple of 34.
C. A multiple of 35-->(5)(7) = 35.... so the product of two primes CAN be a multiple of 35.
D. A multiple of 36--> The product 36 can be achieved in a number of ways: 1x36, 2x18, 3x12, 4x9 and 6x6.... but NONE of those involves 2 PRIMES.
E. A multiple of 37-->(2)(37) = 74.... so the product of two primes CAN be a multiple of 37.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
