stmt1: x and y are negative

so, x+y has to be negative
so, x-y has to be negative , because -ve * -ve = +ve 7
And 7 = -1 * -7
x = -4

A is correct.
(x+y) must be -7 and (x-y)=-1.

that makes x=-4, y=-3.
