great score first of all! I think you are at an age to get EMBA. Many B school has them so you gotta do some research there. I know Duke have councilors working to find if the person is a "good fit" for EMBA so there's probably some preliminary screenings... good luck!

The problem with the EMBA is that this type of program is tailored for the candidates who are already on the good career path. EMBA helps you to skip several steps on career ladder but not the first ones. Typically, it is for someone who reached a ceiling in his functional progression (so, he is a highly qualified but narrow specialist) and he is ready to switch for managerial position but lacks managerial knowledge and experience. That's why a large number of EMBA students are financed by their companies, and that's why the EMBAs are much more expensive than the corresponding full time MBAs.
Well, that is my vision of the EMBA vs full time MBA programs. Probably, I misinterpret the situation, so please, correct me.

hi... i am actually stuck in a similar position here in the US and was also looking to do a 1 year MBA to change field or atleast get a bump in my field (manufacturing/engg.). I havent made much progress in terms of promotions/leadership positions to go for EMBA (it takes longer and is more expensive).. hence I think your plan is solid and rational.

others please chime in....at this point its a good idea.

Today I was on a on-site visit to HEC full time program. Good news: their age range seems to be more stretchable than in INSEAD, I was told that there is one student in the last year's intake who was more than 40, and I saw several students who were well in their thirties.

HEC seems also to appreciate the good GMAT score, since their actual average is 690.
The problem is that their program is 16 months vs 10 months in INSEAD, so you have to stay half a year more without a job, but on the other hand these additional months can be used for internships and the last six months are largely dedicated to job search and career building activities.

To sum up, I think that I'll make particular emphasis on the HEC application, as I think that I have a good chance to be admitted there.

...

And, the last but not the least, the HEC has one of the strongest alumni network and it is particularly appreciated in French job market, so that fits perfectly to my plans to find a good job in France.
