I also have a unique background in that I came from a wartorn country and got political asylum. Can I mesh this into a compelling story and will that help?

Re: VERY worried about my work experience [#permalink]
yes of course, and what specifically are you worried about? is it having 3 jobs?
that is NOTHING to be concerned about, especially if you were moving up in each position.
Add to that you have 2 big time pre mba employers on your resume. No need to worry.

Re: VERY worried about my work experience [#permalink]
I'm just really worried about my profile in general. I really want a top 15 program. With a 3.1 GPA, I just feel everything else has to be perfect. I actually have an interesting back story in that I was a refugee. I know that helps with law school applications if you weave it into your personal statement, but with the essay format of MBA programs I'm not sure how to capitalize on that,.... or even how much it would help if at all.

Re: VERY worried about my work experience [#permalink]
I think your work experience is a strong point. for the top 8-15 schools. the 3.1 is manageable in that range of schools also but you need a high GMAT...710+

You definitely have to touch on your past as a refugee, perhaps you can weave it in a the motivating factor for why you want to pursue your long term goal of micro finance in your home country
Thats just an example but you can fit it in. You need to be more positive!
prepare the best application you can and roll the dice, no need to stress about something you cant change.

Re: VERY worried about my work experience [#permalink]
Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, i'm just nervous. I only just started studying for the gmat and I plan on applying in September. So I'm hoping to take the gmat early september to take full advantage of the early application cycle. I figure I need to get at the very least a 680-690 for the kind of schools I want. Not sure if 2 months of studying is enough...haven't taken timed tests yet but so far the quant seems ok. Do you think i should take a manhattan gmat course?
