https://mbaadmit.com/category/emba-embawebinars/ Wharton EMBA: 4.5 Weeks Away, How to Make It The final deadline for Wharton’s EMBA program is January 17, 2024. That is just weeks away. If you do not make that final deadline, then, unfortunately, you will need to wait to apply for the Wharton EMBA program that begins in the summer of 2025 – a long 18 months away!
If you want to start the Wharton EMBA program this summer, 2024, how can you make it with only weeks to go? Consider these steps.
Recommendations: Remember the impact of the holidays (end-December through early January)! You should reach out to your recommendation writers as early as possible and ensure they compose outstanding recommendations before the deadline. Take the time to consider who will be the best writers for you. Who can write a glowing recommendation that provides ample details about your strengths as a businessperson and leader? Once you decide, contact the writers, secure their commitment to write for you and guide them about what a great recommendation letter looks like.
Don’t forget that many recommendation writers will be unavailable at the end of December and early January. They will be busy celebrating the holidays with family and friends, and they usually will not welcome the interruption of that time. Since you may be limited in your ability to contact your recommenders during the winter break, you should prioritize having the recommendation writers complete their recommendations before they leave for winter break or soon after they return. Talk with your writers to determine which is most feasible. Wharton is not allowing recommendations to come in after the deadline, so take steps to ensure there will be no delay in the submission of your recommendations.
Executive Assessment: Begin to prepare for your Executive Assessment, and try to take your first test by the end of December. That way, if the score does not come in as high as you would like, you will have time for a couple more tries in January.
Draft Your Essays. The Wharton EMBA application includes two required essays and one optional essay. For Essay 1, the goals essay, give yourself time to think through what you will present as your short-term and long-term goals. Be able to articulate why you need a Wharton EMBA to achieve your goals. For Essay 2, be certain to articulate compelling reasons why you will be a great addition to the EMBA cohort.
Turn Your Resume Into a Winning Application Resume. When reading your application, many admissions officers will begin with your resume. It offers, after all, a crucial snapshot of your candidacy. With your resume, you are making an important impression! Tailor your resume to serve you well in the admissions process. It should showcase your strengths in the areas Wharton most cares about with regard to admission.
Visit Wharton. If possible, visit Wharton – if not before the deadline, certainly before your interview. Visiting the campus signals to the Admissions Committee that you are very interested in the program and willing to sacrifice time and resources to get on campus and truly understand all the school offers. If you are within a reasonable distance from the school – say, only an hour’s flight away – the school will wonder why you did not bother to visit, so try to squeeze a trip in if possible.
If you simply cannot visit before your interview, take steps to show you made other efforts to learn in-depth about the school and its curriculum, culture, and offerings. You should demonstrate interest in the program beyond merely reading the program website.
