Many applicants to Wharton’s EMBA program worry if they do not have financial sponsorship from their company. On the application form, Wharton asks candidates how they will pay for the program and whether their employer will pay for part of the program. Applicants who must answer “no” – thereby indicating their employer will not pay for any EMBA program fees – fear this hurts their application. That is not the case.
Wharton recognizes that many companies do not have the means to pay part of the cost of an EMBA program for their employees. Even if they have the financial health to afford it, some companies have a policy of not paying for such expenses. In those cases, a lack of financial corporate sponsorship does not reflect the company’s view of the candidate or the candidate’s future leadership potential.
If you have full sponsorship from your employer, certainly that is a great statement of endorsement. So, Wharton will see your application positively because it knows you have your company’s endorsement.
While corporate sponsorship can make a candidate appear enthusiastically endorsed by their employer, many successful applicants do not have full or even partial tuition sponsorship. They establish the enthusiasm of their employer through other means, particularly through their recommendations.
