Candidates to Wharton’s EMBA program are often very concerned about their Executive Assessment (EA) scores. Wharton is known to be much pickier about the EA score than other top EMBA programs like Booth and Columbia. What score is good enough for Wharton? Since the answer has varied over time, many candidates are uncertain.
In its first year of accepting the EA exam, Wharton told many candidates that a score of 150 was fine, with a quant of at least 10. The school apparently did not like the way such students performed in the classroom because the very next year, they amended what they told prospective applicants, saying they wanted to see a score of 160 or higher. That is a very high score! During the last admissions cycle, 2022-2023, 155 was the Wharton EMBA Program’s median score for matriculating students.
Happily, however, that is a median score, and plenty of successful applicants have lower than 155. We at
MBA Admit.com work with large numbers of EMBA applicants, and I consider 155 a solid score for Wharton, but 153 is also solid for Wharton, as long as the quant portion is around 12 or higher.
Does this mean your application is doomed if your EA is 152 or less and your quant is 11 or less? No. We at
MBA Admit.com have seen plenty of candidates gain admission to the Wharton EMBA Program each year with EA scores as low as 146-149 and quant scores under 10. But, a key to their success is an outstanding application – especially the essays and recommendations – that highlights your uniqueness and all the strengths you bring to Wharton. It is also very important that you highlight other metrics that indicate you will perform excellently in Wharton’s quantitatively challenging and rigorous program.
