Wharton EMBA: the New Global Cohort Have you longed to join the Wharton EMBA program, but the travel from afar seemed infeasible? Last year, Wharton launched a Global cohort, which it asserts now opens the program to students around the world – literally. Wharton asserts that now students can experience a sense of community combined with a top-tier education from any location globally through its innovative EMBA Global Cohort. This unique offering presents a blended learning program that combines the flexibility of online courses with in-person residential weeks, ensuring both broad accessibility and the cultivation of deep student connections.
Delivered by Wharton’s esteemed faculty in real-time, the program features synchronous and virtual classes scheduled according to eastern standard time (EST) every alternate week. With classes taking place on Thursday evenings and Friday and Saturday mornings every other week, students can juggle their work commitments and family obligations, no matter their time zone.
Along with virtual sessions, the Global cohort option within the Wharton EMBA program incorporates five in-person residencies over the course of the program. These residencies are held at Wharton campuses in Philadelphia and San Francisco, as well as other global locations.
Wharton emphasizes that it promotes relationship building despite the large virtual component of the program. Students begin to nurture relationships immediately during Orientation Week, an in-person residential week on Wharton’s Philadelphia campus.
Wharton also emphasizes that all its EMBA cohorts – Global, Philadelphia, and San Francisco – experience the same intensive and cross-functional curriculum. The Wharton EMBA program begins with courses intended to strengthen each student’s business and leadership fundamentals, along with the analytical and communication skills that are central to business and leadership success. In the program’s second year, students choose electives to deep-dive in areas of specific interest – from finance to entrepreneurship.
The Global cohort, like Wharton’s other two EMBA cohorts (Philadelphia and San Francisco), enjoys 700 hours of active learning, including the opportunity to study abroad in one of Wharton’s Global Business Weeks. Students must also attend two Global Modular Courses (those courses are optional for students in the Philadelphia and San Francisco cohorts).
This new program offers great flexibility, and demand seems to be increasing quickly because professionals around the world recognize that when they graduate from the Global cohort and join the Wharton alumni network, they will become part of one of the most extensive and powerful business networks in the world.
