To calculate the ratio, we need an equation linking the number of jeeps to the number of vans.
We'll see if our answers give us this information, a Logical approach.

(1) This gives us an equation connecting the number of jeeps to the number of vans. Exactly what we need!
Sufficient.

(2) This directly gives us the numbers required for calculation.
Sufficient.

(D) is our answer.
