When the wind speed is 9 miles per hour, the wind-chill factor w is given by w = -17.366 + 1.19t, where t is the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. If at noon yesterday the wind speed was 9 miles per hour, was the wind-chill factor greater than 0 ? (1) The temperature at noon yesterday was greater than 10 degrees Fahrenheit. (2) The temperature at noon yesterday was less than 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient. B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient. C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient. D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient. E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.
