Hello Peers and experts,

I am a second year Internal Medicine Resident Physician in USA with aspiration of healthcare administration.

I always had goal to own a private business alongside my practice. But, after coming to the healthcare INDUSTRY. I was came across several issues faced by healthcare workers including doctors, nurses and other team members. We always had a frustration that management does not know what we go through. And more and more healthcare workers want MBA with healthcare background.

I am not sure which MBA is right for me - MBA, executive MBA or MBA with MS in healthcare management.

I would really appreciate your suggestions and comments.

It's great that you are looking to pursue a business degree along with completing your residency. That's important!

Those three degrees will offer many similar benefits but are different experiences. What exactly are you looking to get out of the degree? Also, how old are you (that matters for Executive MBA vs. full-time MBA)? Do you have a GRE/GMAT score in hand or are you still exploring?

The more you can provide us in terms of your desires and relevant statistics, the more insightful it will be for us to give you the proper advice.

Admissionado Thank you for your reply.

My goal is to learn more about healthcare with goal of running a hospital one day along with general business principles which can be relevant to other businesses as well.

I am 28 year old. With only part time work experience of being receptionist at motel and Uber driver, while I was preparing for Medical licensing exam to make my MD degree effective in the USA from foreign country.

After finishing my final licensing exam a month ago. I have started preparing for GMAT, with the goal of achieving 720 or above score by the time, I graduate from my Residency program in July 2023.

The full-time MBA seems like your best bet. You will get that entire experience and more. Are you comfortable/prepared to take off 2 years to get this degree? Many do in the medical field, but that is a serious consideration.

You are probably too young for an Executive MBA and I'm not sure it makes sense given your career goals.

MS in Healthcare Management could be a nice backup to the MBA (which I believe would be harder to get into) though I'm not sure if it'll be nearly as transformative as the MBA.
