Who should do 1 year MBA course from IIM A/B

Who should do 1 year MBA course from IIM A/B [#permalink] New post   04 Sep 2019, 03:47
Hi ,
I have a work experience of 6.5 years with 2.5 years of gap (for civil services). I want to know if doing 1 year MBA is good for me or not. Below is my profile :
1. BE in CSE from BITS Mesra Ranchi
2. Currently working in a prestigious IT product development company with CTC around 22.

Questions
So want to know if investing 50 lacs (25 for MBA + 22 of salary loss) is worth an investment for me?
Please suggest me what will be the new career path in terms of role as well as compensation I may get after pursuing 1 year MBA from A/B. Also, suggest which all colleges I should target.

I think the first thing that you should seek is why MBA.
If money is the only factor then think twice otherwise growth or probably if you wish to go in managerial stream you should think about MBA.

It is a worth investment, because of two things Position & Package.
Your experience will fetch you a good job in IT companies with way better packages. I guess at this level of experience most Engineers are worried about Growth, which is mostly decided by your Manager and that may not always land in your favor.
MBAs are in demand for leadership roles.
It is worth to go for IIMs A/B doesn't matter. these are equally good. Since u r IT guy I would suggest go for IIMB.

Welcome to the GMATClub community.
Let's say you are a Data Scientist making 22 lacs per annum and you know you are in a trending field then may be you should not do an MBA at all. At the same time, may be you don't want to stay in you current field and want to grow. Your investment in the MBA from such a prestigious college will be worth it. I believe a college such as IIM A will return every penny to you in terms of ROI. I have no doubt about that. At the same ISB Hyd is great as well.
You should evaluate things, ask yourself some basic question and then ask specific questions. Asking "is IIM A worth it": Hell Yeah, It is!
