Most MBA programs have certain percentages allocated to different ethnicities and different professions.
Most schools publish these figures for future students and for the industry - and so schools are very careful about the mix of people in their MBA community. This is true for ethnicities, gender, industry sector, etc...
So if you applying to be part of a highly competitive portion of a school's demographic mix - then yes, you will be competing for other students from similar demographics. Take a look at this article about Quant vs Verbal and how verbal is more generally more important:

Having said that, make the most of what you can. There are tools and resources for getting your score balanced and in the right zone to compete well.
