Having just finished the first semester of my first year, I think MIT Sloan does a great job of challenging you through the Core classes. There were times where I was frustrated by the forced teamwork, or the ambiguity in assignments, but looking back on it, those experiences were where I really developed the most. I credit Sloan with not being afraid to put their students in positions of discomfort, as they realize that real world situations rely on your to embrace discomfort and seek it out to really grow. I am certainly looking forward to continuing my growth through choosing my own classes from here on out.
Consulting is by far the most common recruiting path among first years. I would guess that about 80% of my class has either worked in consulting before or want to recruit for it. That common thread is a great connector among pretty much the whole class.
