Line up equations and solve as linear by multiplying either of them by 3:

3x+y = 9 X 3
3x+3y=1
............
Subtracing we get 8x =56 hence x=7. substituting we get y= -2. Hence 2x + 2y = 2(7) +2(-2) = 14-4 = 10. Answer is D

Quote:

Add these two equations

4x + 4y = 20

Divide by 2 ( to Get 2x + 2y)

Answer will be D. 10

Add the two equations

you'll get - 4x + 4y = 20

Divide by 2

you'll get 2x+2y

Answer = 10
