A colony of ants increases its population by 4 percent. If after this increase, bacteria deplete the population by \(\frac{3}{4}\), the new ant population is what percent of the original ant population?

A. 16%
B. 26%
C. 29%
D. 50%
E. 78%

let popn = 100
4% increase = 104
deplete by 3/4 = 78 and left 104-78 ; 26
new popn 26% of original IMO B
