An empty rectangular swimming pool has uniform depth. How long will it take to fill the pool with water?

(1) Water will be pumped in at the rate of 240 gallons per hour (1 cubic foot = 7.5 gallons)
(2) The pool is 60 feet long and 25 feet wide

Question: Time to fill the rectangular swimming pool = Volume of Pool*Pumping rate = Length Width and Height of pool*Pumping rate = ?

Statement 1: Water will be pumped in at the rate of 240 gallons per hour

The volume can't be calculated as the volume of pool is also required to calculate time of pumping hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: The pool is 60 feet long and 25 feet wide
The depth of pool is unknown alongwith that the rate of pumping also is unknown hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Combining the two statements
Depth of pool to be fo=illed is still unknown so the volume can't be calculated hence time of filling pool can't be calculated hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option E

Hi GMATinsight,

Are you sure this is the correct formula you have used in the statement below?

Time to fill the rectangular swimming pool = Volume of Pool*Pumping rate = Length Width and Height of pool*Pumping rate = ?
