I think it's real-time update through email. the emails definitely preceded the online status.

Just joined this forum. I got an interview invite this afternoon (submited on 7/26 around 8pm EST). Do you guys have any tips for me?

Congratulations on the invite! Your quick turnaround gives me hope.

From what I've read, the interview process is somewhat informal. Meeting with a local alumni, standard questions on why Columbia, etc. Interview is blind, I believe with the exception of your resume. Check out the 2010 CBS applicant thread for more info. Also, Clear Admit posts interview reports.

Hey everyone,

Submitted ED Sept 2011 application July 14, 2010. Received interview request July 30, 2010. Interviewed August 9th, 2010. Still waiting for interviewer to submit report.

3.9 GPA, 4.0 major (Finance) at top 20 public university
710 GMAT (44Q, 42V)
2 years Investment Banking, 2 years PE at matriculation (current)
On board of small charity I co-founded
Decent ECs

Biggest concern in my app is my weak Quant score on GMAT, but hoping strong performance in Finance major and IB/PE experience will overshadow that.

Hi All,

I've just started working on my Columbia application. Was planning on applying in the first week of October. Now I have my doubts on whether its better to apply after Oct 6th (in RD) as opposed to Oct 5th, and be in a really competitive ED pool. My assumption being that they must have a limited number of seats for ED, and Oct might be a little too late to compete for the remaining seats.

Or is it still better to apply in ED ?

Thoughts ?

It would still be better for you to apply ED. The way I see it is that if they like you during ED but don't have a seat for you, they will just roll your application to RD anyways. My 2 cents anways.

I don't think they have a hard number set for ED. If they like you, they'd be more likely to take you under ED than under RD, everything else being equal. 6K is good for them, and higher yield rate is a plus as well.

I think like 25 posts ago we were trying to figure out this logistically, but just to follow-up....

Has anyone on here who has gotten an interview invite email after NOON est?

I got my interview invite on 7/30 which was a Friday at around 4:30pm EST

haha, i am literally DEALING with it. Well, I am preparing for other schools just in case. I found this whole timeline really bizarre, unless they are waiting till a specific date to start accepting ED people. Today marks my 11th week.... one and half weeks since my interview went complete.
