Thanks Leverandon! I was planning on addressing some unique personal qualities for the first part and professional skills in the second. The word "expertise" is tricky because (I think), a 26 year old cant be an expert at anything yet in the professional realm....

Don't worry about that. My entire quote had absolutely nothing to do with the professional realm (and I still received a R1 interview invite). Be creative. I like the advice that was given to go with the first thing that comes to mind.

I agree that "expertise" is tricky. Did everyone stick to a single sentence for this? Or did you use the fill-in-the-blank part as sort of an introduction to a few additional sentences? With a 100 word limit, I'm assuming they expect more than one sentence?

On a side note, I guess I'm getting close to completing my app if I'm nitpicking this much...

I broke up my response to the personal statement into two long sentences comprising just under 100 words. I talked about my personal background and experiences growing up abroad. I also wrote nearly 300 words to highlight my extracurricular/community involvement in the Activities section.

If Admissions was looking a single sentence response only, they should have made that clearer on the application.

I used the complete 100 words as well. But my ECs were concise.

PS: I have already intervied. So, even if they dint want more than a phrase for that prompt, it dint hurt me per se!

Mine was a bit of a run on sentence. It was about 30some words if I recall. It was not exactly eloquent but reinforced my overall message that was conveyed in other essays and like I said was basically the first thing that came to my mind.

My statement was 76 words total.

I just submitted my application in R2. So let the waiting game begin.

I used the first part to go in a total different direction, and flesh out a different piece of me - I think I mentioned that I like mountain climbing and scuba diving or something. For the expertise I turned it back into a couple very broad words of what I do professionally. I also interviewed beg of Dec.

have fun with it.

Re: Calling all Darden Fall 2009 applicants! [#permalink]
Looking for some peace of mind here...I'm just about ready to submit my app. I hit Print App on the website and reviewed the whole thing. Under the Educational History section, it lists my undergrad school and next to Transcript, it says "No." I'm assuming this is because Darden doesn't have my official transcript, not because it doesn't recognize my uploaded file. Can anyone confirm that their printed application says the same thing?

Thanks!

I think as long as it passes the application inspector you are fine. If you can go back to the online app and view the transcript in the school info section I think you are definitely okay.
