LOL, nervous, that teaches me to NEVER doubt your predictions again! :) Please predict that I will make millions of dollars after I get my MBA, hahaha :P

But no, it's probably NOT a scholarship, since no one here in R1 got scholarship decisions on the phone (or maybe someone did but just ain't fessing up???), I honestly do not believe that I "deserve" a scholarship more than any of you here on the forums. I'm guessing it may be a free trip to Kellogg for DAK, like someone else got here on the forums. But I guess I'll find out tomorrow, since the adcom hasn't called me back tonight.

mba2010, hahahahahaha... maybe that's a reason *not* to go to Kellogg... otherwise I would be one of the oldest people there (not just limited to GMATClub) :P

Actually, I heard about a few people who got scholarships during their notification call...just not one of us.

Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
really? I find it hard to believe that only one of us here on GMATClub would get a scholarship call on the phone...

Anyway, as I said before, any school willing to accept me gets their picture as my avatar for a little bit as an "ad" for their school. Considering the logo now appears in 3300+ different places, I think that's a good way for me to thank them.

It might just switch between Haas, Anderson, and Kellogg in the coming weeks... :P

Couldn't find a good scenic picture of Kellogg's facilities (I don't think it's possible... :P), so this will have to do.

congrats kry..seems like you are pulling down those admits. I hope I have the same "decision" as you as I am waiting to hear from Haas and Kellogg. =)

Kry, the folks who got scholarships over the phone during the call were the ones who got at least half rides it seemed like. Those of us who found out in our finaid pack got 5-13k...which is great because every bit of free money is great but not a fullride. Though when I got "the call" which for me was the message, they said they had great news for me and that great news was I got it...but I got called by a normal adcom not the dean of admissions. Hope you get some great news and end up heading out to chicago land with the rest of us future K and GSB folks.

Just think if the two of us head to K the hype that will produced here next year. Every person who visits the site will end up applying there...it will be like the rhyme factor times two haha.

We have to convince you, nervous, and duke...

Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
Hey guys, found out some information regarding the need-based and optional Grad PLUS loans (from Julie Israel in the fin aid office at Kellogg):

There is no difference in the loan terms, however, we are distinguishing between need and optional borrowing. In other words, since we package up to the cost of attendance for our U.S. Citizens and Permanent Resident student's, in the financial aid package, the Grad PLUS optional loan would be either the student's actual contribution and or to meet the cost of attendance less any other financial aid resources. Again, please know, there is not a different interest rate or terms and conditions to the actual loan. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I just had a phone call with my wait list manager...she was very nice. Told me that the wait list is unique year to year and that it is a function of the current set of applications. Historicals aren't helpful. Also told me that there was nothing specific in my candidacy that gave them concern. It sounds like they will be evaluating the wait list seriously in the middle of April, a week or so after the deposit deadline. She certainly encouraged me to submit an update letter if I have information to pass along.

Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
True that river! Yeah, if I do end up there, Kellogg would probably be the most popular school for GMATClubbers and have the most pages in the thread :P I tried calling the adcom back this morning but she's probably busy calling everyone else right now (a few others on BW got calls). I'll let you guys know what this "suspense" is all about. I'm dying to find out.

kwam, yeah... tough choice... definitely would love to be where the GMATClub Hub is, but California Weather is too hard to pass up, especially for a Californian Boy like me. :P

mba, good info. I believe the UCLA fin aid officer told me that this is how it works:

Total Yearly Budget - EFC = Need Based Loans (includes both Subsidized and Unsub loans, up to 20,500)

If you need more than $20,500 for need based loans, you supplement the rest with Grad PLUS loan.

Everyone can borrow up to their total budget using the Grad PLUS loan, regardless of need or EFC.

Hope that makes sense... took me a while to figure that out talking to the officer.

In the Kellogg financial aid package, there were two types of Grad PLUS loans:

need-based Grad PLUS
optional Grad PLUS

however, nobody had an explanation until today.
