Congrats Aenigma! If I am not mistaken you got into Columbia as well. Which direction are you leaning ?

Thanks, mustafaj! You're right, I just found out about Columbia the day before yesterday -- I feel very fortunate! They're both great schools with similar strengths in the areas that interest me. I'm still waiting on a couple more schools, about which I feel admittedly less confident, so I'm holding off on making judgments until the end of the month. Just basking in the glow for now.

That said, some serious scholarship offers would not go amiss.

Totally understandable ... wow!
As I was typing this response, my computer gave me the email beep. First thought was great, another work/spam email that gets my hopes up for no reason. Second thought was how ironic it would be that i get an acceptance email as i congratulate someone.

Low and behold, it was an email from Stern letting me know that I am in! Pretty sure I will need vocal cord surgery after the scream i let out. Also, i might have given my coworkers mild heart attacks.

After school visits, I was undecided between NYU and Kellogg as they were my #1 and #1a, not sure in what order. My decision was made for me today (ding from Kellogg). Looks like I am going to be a Sternie!

Congrats Aenigma! when I saw your post went to check my status and saw that I was accepted as well! My email came 10 minutes later. I interviewed on 22nd Feb, so it has been a loooong wait for me and was losing hope, but the wait did pay out at the end!

I submitted my application on 1/15. Took my GMAT on 1/12. Hence there is a slight delay with the review of my application. Got my official results end of Jan and yet got any reply from NYU. Anyone in the same boat as me?

Congrats to all you accepted people ... I just had my interview this Tuesday, got my fingers crossed. I got asked what my backup plan was if consulting after MBA doesn't work out ... um, hello, I am more concerned with a backup plan for if I don't get accepted into an MBA program!!! Stupid question.

Bonus - free t-shirt. :P

I got the same question, as the job market is still difficult, I think that they want to see that you have a plan A and plan B for your full-time job after school. They want to make sure that students are placed quickly after they graduate and that if their dream job does not turn out to be possible, that they know what to do.

Good luck with your final decision! The waiting is difficult but hang on there (my decision took 2.5 weeks to come!)

Yes - career switches are a much more difficult thing to pull of nowadays. That is why they ask - and it also shows if you actually have considered anything much about what you want to do (having an 'I will only do x' attitude tells its own story).

I am not going to bother trying to enlighten Aenigma of the obvious superiority of Stern to Columbia until I know she isn't going to Harvard or to get a tan for two years.

Congratulations both of you.

Ha. Well, first of all: Harvard never wrote me so it seems awfully unlikely I'll be headed to Boston. (Or to the West Coast; see recent spontaneous "yaargh" in Venting Thread.) And second of all: my people don't tan; we are allergic to sunlight. So I'm ready when you are!

I don't know 3underscore. Although I am a big fan of Stern and not a big fan of Columbia (NYU = alma mater, Columbia = well, all NYU undergrad kids hate Columbia for no reason whatsoever  ) ..... after Aenigma meets Solaris1 at the happy hour (assuming Solie is still going), that might be the reason why Aenigma chooses CBS over Stern. :-D

I call this the "Solie Effect"

Ha. Well, I seem to recall that Solaris1 can't make it tomorrow. 3underscore, you still have time! But I have heard such tales of Solaris1's sartorial resplendence that, alas, I shall rue his absence nonetheless.
