Re: Calling all Ross Weekend MBA Applicants: (2017 Intake) Class of 2019!! [#permalink]
Hi All,

Thanks Naren for starting this thread!

I am a prospective applicant for the Weekend programs. I have been attending the on-campus info-sessions, lunches, student events etc over the past couple of months and interested in the Kellogg/Ross/Booth programs starting Spring/Summer 2017. I did my undergrad engineering in India, worked/interned for almost 20 months, then moved to the USA for my masters in engineering. Been working full-time for little over 6 years now in the Mid-west after my Masters. Currently an engineer with an MNC in the field of Mechanical Design automation.

Am done with my GMAT and other stuff and currently in the process of writing my essays, recommendations, transcripts etc. Hope to get everything ready and get my application done within the next month! Looking forward to seeing interesting discussions here! Good luck to all :)

Guys, I just updated the first post with admission deadlines of the current admission cycle.

I request you all to add Ross Weekend MBA program to your MBA timeline so that the applicant stats displayed in the first post reflect true picture of admissions. While adding the program, MAKE SURE you are setting it for graduation year i.e. 'Class of 2019'.

Hi Guys..I'll be applying to Ross Weekend MBA Program (2017 Intake) by the end of October. Will it be too late? As Ross does rolling admissions for their weekend program. Has anybody heard back yet?

I believe the online application just went live in late July and it is still early for the weekend 2017 class. In fact we are within the FT MBA R1 deadline :-) So, I am not sure why you feel it is too late to apply by the end of October. You probably might be within the first 50% of applicants if you can do it by Oct. FYI, I attended an info session in August and it seemed like 90% of the attendees were yet to give their GMAT. So you must be OK I guess!

Good luck :-)

It did go live toward the very end of July or even beginning of August. The first round deadline is Dec 5 (early) and Jan 23 for final I do believe. I went to an info session as well (maybe even the one you attended!) and even a few weeks ago while I did a Saturday class visit many were still yet to take the GMAT. Admission is weighed heavily on all the factors, not just the GMAT. That was stressed by many current students and an admissions associate as well. Good luck everyone!!

I just had my interview yesterday for the Weekend MBA program. It was regular stuff that one would expect - why MBA, why Ross, why now, past accomplishments and failures, resume, career plan etc and finally any questions I had. The interviewer was pleasant, to the point and gave an impression that she was interested in honest answers. We did not waste any time talking about other stuff and the interview was done in like 20-25 minutes even though it was scheduled for 30 minutes. Not sure if it is a good or bad thing. I believe I did OK and the anxious wait begins :-)

Hope this helps!

I got accepted into the Weekend MBA program - starting Summer 2017. I was invited for the interview within 2 weeks of my application requirements completion (Recommendation took some time) and was called/sent the admit letter the day after my interview!

Even I was shocked at the turn around time for the decision :-)

Congratulations! I will be submitting my application within the next 3-4 weeks, at least one week ahead of the Dec 5 date. I figure the earlier the better, especially as seen in your situation!

Congrats again, I wish you the best of luck and hope I see you there!

Interviewed yesterday for the weekend program - really enjoyed the conversation I had with an adcom member. Same for me, typical questions (why MBA, why Ross, Resume, Leadership qualities, etc).

She said expect to hear back in 4 weeks, so the wait is going to be excruciating, but hopefully I get in and it'll all be worth it :) so excited to be going through the process though!!

To be clear, I submitted my app 10/18, was asked to interview 11/4, interviewed 11/10.

Interviewed on the 5th of November. It went ok, not great. Was told I would hear back in about 4 weeks. Fingers crossed.

I assume acceptance rate increases if you are offered opportunity to interview? Any statistics on that? I searched but couldn't find anything.

I think you are absolutely right on interviews and acceptance rates. My interviewer told me that applications had to go through two recommenders to get an interview opportunity, so they have to be relatively selective. Clearly they liked what they saw in your app. Mine actually called out the weaknesses of my application as well, and asked me to explain them, which I loved. I wish more interviews gave you the opportunity to address these.

I was accepted at Kellogg so I feel like ultimately I HAVE to go there. The Ross program seems like such a good fit, although logistically living it's a bit of a nightmare for me (I'm a Chicago native). I hope I'm making the right decision by attending Kellogg (first time anyone has ever said that, I bet)
