Interview was a Zoom chat with a local alumnus. Pretty conversational / laid back demeanor. Questions included: (1) Resume walkthrough. (2) Why MBA? (3) Why Fuqua? (4) What do you want to be involved in on campus? (5) When did you run into an obstacle and how did you get past it? (6) Describe a couple leaders you’ve had exposure to and admire. And then thereafter gave me time to ask questions. Time: ~45 minutes.

Alum was a very senior exec. Relaxed, conversational interview, lasted just over an hour. About 30 minutes of behavioral questions followed by 30 minutes of more open chatting. No “tell me about yourself,” “why MBA,” or “why Stanford” questions, just three TMATs that we dug into a bit more detail on. Had a great time. The three TMAT questions were: 1. TMAT you accomplished something you were really proud of. 2. TMAT you went above and beyond. 3. TMAT you helped someone else develop their skill set. These were actually the only “planned” questions for me. All of the others stemmed from the answers I gave and branched out naturally from each story.

It lasted for 45-50 minutes. It was conversational. She made comments and shared her point of view on my stories – which show that she really engaged with our conversation. It started with her introduction about herself/ her internship then some typical questions: Tell me about yourself. Why MBA? Why now? Why Fuqua? Then a series of TMA questions: 1. Ethical dilemma 2. Gave feedback to others 3. Miscommunication Then some questions about Fuqua 1. What you wanna do at Fuqua? 2. What team Fuqua mean to you?

Resume-based interview with second year. It felt conversational, but that also meant some non-typical questions and follow-ups that dug into my experiences vs. more standard questions. Interviewer was helpful and chatty, was very talkative about her own experiences – 30-min interview and 30-min Q&A because of how willing she was to open up. Expected Qs include introduce yourself, why MBA now, experience managing people, thoughts on recruiting.

I really enjoyed the entire process at Johnson. My interview was with a 2nd-year student and was more conversational. You could tell that Johnson has a tight-knit community with everyone willing to help each other. The interview was mostly resume-based and open-ended questions. 1. Why MBA? Why Johnson? 2. What are your thoughts about living in Ithaca? 3. Walk me through your experiences. 4. What are your short-term and long-term goals? Why?

It was a friendly conversation; he was taking notes throughout. No surprises compared to what others reported about their interviews. Walk me through your resume. Why do you need an MBA? What are your goals? Biggest achievement? Time you received feedback? Time you gave feedback? Questions for the interviewer?

Had a fantastic interview with the MIT Sloan Adcom team. I was a member of the waitlist from Round 2 and was invited for interview at Round 3 Decisions on 24 April. Very conversational, open and friendly, felt more like a thoughtful chat over coffee with a mentor compared to a formal interview. 1. Any updates since you submitted your application and waitlist updates? I spoke on activities that had materialized over the last couple of months, that I did not mention in the application or waitlist updates. It led to a tangential conversation on the current events of my industry and the activities I mentioned, my thoughts and the interviewer’s thoughts on the matters. 2. Tell me something about your data visualization. 3. Then to Why MBA, Why Now and Why Sloan? 4. Tell me about a time when you worked on something that had a lasting impact. 5. Tell me about a time when something did not go to plan. How did you find out? What was your response? What was the outcome? 6. Any questions for me? By then the 30 minutes had completed and we concluded the call. Overall, my interview experience only further reinforced why I like Sloan. The questions were all grounded in reality and the interviewer thoughtfully asked follow on questions to dig deeper into the experiences I shared. The interviewer answered all my questions in detail and did recommend me to look up some other resources pertaining to my queries, which was super helpful. Of course I would have loved to talk in even more detail but I believe the 30 minutes is sufficient to cover what I wanted to show to Sloan about my candidacy for their MBA program. I like that the interviewer has read the whole file and has poignant thoughts on where to direct the conversation based on what I have shared. Looking forward to the admissions team decision next week, Fingers crossed 🙂

I had my interview with Annemie Peeters. The interview was quite conversational and we went through my application together. It lasted for about 45 minutes. Here’s a summary of the questions asked: 1. Tell me two things (one professional and one extracurricular) that are interesting or not already mentioned in your resume. 2. Why MBA at this point? My response: I worked in expat tax at a Big 4 firm for three years. I now want to transition into strategy consulting because I don't want to restrict myself to one specific business problem. I’m looking to work on broader and more diverse challenges—hence, the MBA. 3. A follow-up: Do you have any connections in the consulting world or would it be completely new for you? 4. Preferred working location post-MBA. 5. What are your Plan A and Plan B in terms of professional goals—both short-term and mid-term? 6. Which other universities have you applied to and have you received any responses yet? 7. What parameters did you use to select your target MBA programs and why ESADE specifically? 8. Details about my previous compensation. 9. My funding plans and whether I would still join if I don’t receive a scholarship. 10. Questions about my test scores. (I had given the Esade admissions test, she had mentioned that I got a good score in the test and asked about my GMAT score as well) 11. Whether I had interacted with any ESADE alumni. 12. Any questions I had for her. Good luck!!

Interview was conducted over zoom for ~30 minutes with NUS's assistant dean and another alumni from China who previously has a NUS MBA scholarship. It felt slightly harder than the typical MBA interview as there were a few gotcha questions that required thinking on the feet and some wittiness. Questions asked: 1) Tell me more about yourself - I was prompted to describe more than just my professional experience but also who I was outside of work 2) Why MBA and how it related to your goals? - I said I forsaw myself being a CTO/CPO in a consumer technology company 3) Have you researched into what a CTO does? 4) Can you describe some innovative product in the market and what problem did it solve? (I was asked this question due to my background in design) - I talked about the Apple Vision Pro and Japanese Shinkansen 5) However, the Apple Vision pro is not selling well, as a product manager, how would you deal with that? 6) How do you view Linkedin as a platform that is declining in relevance? - I mentioned about social anxiety and potential toxicity by aggrieved/unfairly retrenched employees 7) You listed empathy in your essay as a core value, can you name a global leader that epitomizes this trait? - I got stuck a bit here as most modern global leaders don't really show this side of them in public but in hindsight, there are past servant leaders like JFK, MLK Jr 8) Using 3 words, describe yourself - I chose analytical, empathetic and excellent 9) Would you describe Elon Musk as an empathetic leader? 10) What about Donald Trump? Do you think his decisions are good? 11) Do you have any questions for us? I rate my performance 7/10, questions were asked in a rather pushy tone at the start but gradually became more casual.

Just did my interview earlier today, very chill as others have said. Here are the questions I got - Tell me about yourself - Why MBA and why now - Why Anderson? - How do you plan to be involved on campus? - Short term and long term goals? Plan B? - TMAT when you received feedback - Any questions for me? Lasted exactly 30 minutes, with a student as well. Pro tip for others, if you check your Zoom video ~20 minutes before the interview it will show you who your interviewer is so you can do some last minute research. Best of luck to anyone else interviewing!

Both my interviews were conversational but had a part where the questions were mainly addressed to me and another part where I got to ask questions and it was more of an exchange. My first interview was with an alumni based locally over google meet and they first introduced themselves then asked me: - Introduce myself - Why would I pay 100k for an MBA instead of buying a book about business - Why INSEAD and not US MBA - I told them I was applying with my partner so they asked if it was my partner who convinced to do an MBA - Why I applied to other european MBAs - Why I want to go to BCG afterwards - What did it mean to work with big client like the one we had - Personal questions about my home country The second interview started directly with questions: - Who are you - Why an MBA - What kind of projects do you manage in your company - Did I visit INSEAD and why I chose INSEAD - What I want to do afterwards and why BCG - A time I did something and realized I was wrong and what I learned from it And then took the time to give me advice and both wished me luck and made it sound that I did well at the end of the interview

I had a one hour pressure interview with an alum. Surprisingly the alum went straight to Q&A without introductions. Interviewer did not engage with my answers, kept it strictly Q&A. Here are the types of questions: - Tell me about yourself. Goals? - Why Insead? Why not other schools? Why MBA? Why now? - Opinions on several specific current affairs and drill down (some related to Industry, some completely unrelated to my Industry) - What are your long term goals and how will you achieve them? - Do you have a Language certification? - Personality based questions and multiple hypothetical situations - Exposure to diversity - Deep drill down into CV items Wanted to post this here since my experience seems to be different from the content online!!

I find this situation quite bizarre because throughout the interview process, the conversation was very effective and conversational. I’m not sure if it’s due to an increase in deferred applicants from the previous year, but there seem to be many rejections in R4 this year. I can only say that outsourcing to third-party admissions agencies is really problematic, as you don’t receive any useful advice about the admissions process or insights into the future of your studies during the conversation. Oxford’s costs are extremely high, and it’s unfortunate that right after the interview, I found out the interviewer was an outsourced external consultant. I hope that, moving forward, applicants will have more and better options. That being said, an MBA education is not a simple investment, especially when studying abroad. I hope everyone will have better career development opportunities in the future.
