"I traveled far in the year of 1978, toward the opposite side of the world."
I'm a little iffy on the modifier clause "toward the opposite side of the world." Cheers!

Hi there, I thought I responded to this already. There must have been some technical snafu. Are these? Are these essays sentences or actual SC answer Choice options?

You're good on the modifier clause. A modifier after a comma at the end of a sentence, such as the one in your example, can modify the main subject and verb of the preceding clause. In this case, that's good, because 'toward the opposite side of the world' accurately describes the way in which I traveled.
I actually haven't ever heard of the rule that Farrell is citing. Farrell, do you have a (preferably GMAC) source for it? I don't think I've ever seen it tested in an official SC problem, but there are a lot of problems out there!
