Did you find this on any website or these are your selection?
To me, MIT should/can be replaced by UChicago.

It's my definition of grouping. I felt that Sloan MIT is consistently ranked in top 5 year after year. I thought Sloan belong in that group.

Anyone else disagree as well?

It depends. I'm not a techie nor do I want to focus in that area, so Sloan would be off my chart.
I mentioned GSB because it are strong in Finance / GM, which suits my interest.

Typically if you look at the way people view it, its H/S/W, then K/Chi/MIT/Col, then Tuck/Haas/NYU, then Duke/Darden/Ross/Yale/UCLA

No need for people to get upset since everyone has their view, some will say Chicago instead of MIT at the top, others will say Kellogg. It also depends what ranking you use...USnews vs BW vs others.

The interesting thing is what everyone chooses for a top school vs where they really have a chance at. Tons of folks will say stanford but very very few will actually get in, a lot of people dont even apply because they dont think its worth the effort and expense. I know a lot of folks that do some elites and then toss in HBS just because...even if they know they arent getting in.

Also judging by last year, people's top schools can change a lot for folks for a variety of reasons. They learn more about another school, go to admit weekends, wife/husband pushes them one way or another, get a scholarship...So what you think is your top school right now may not end up that way even if you get in. Of course there are those of us that had a top choice and ended up there...makes life a lot easier that way since you wont have a tough decision.

I consider my "top school" the best combination of my desire to attend plus the chance that I'll get in.

Nah, it's just the school that I want to go to the most that would also most likely let me in.

Aren't we talking top target school? As opposed to top reach school?

I would think this means to pick the top school where we have a realistic chance of getting in. Now, how to evaluate that is a whole different story.

I agree, I didn't mean anything contrary. It's just safe to say that many people apply to a couple of "reaches" and then a few realistic "targets." I was just trying to clarify which was intended for this poll, because it certainly changes the data a bit.

I guess I bring this up because the title of the thread is "Top Target School."

Not anybody, almost everybody will disagree. If this is your grouping of schools, why bother with survey

Didnt know you are a spokesperson that represents the entire forum. What the hell does grouping have to do with survey? point of survey is to find out where everyone is shooting for.

Take it easy guys...

A simple solution for those who don't agree with the grouping - debate it in a professional manner, or don't participate in the survey.

I think you can make an argument for MIT being in the Top 5.

Because you based this survey on the groups you defined, implying that schools in a particular group are similar (either by perception or fact).
"How can Haas be clubbed with Chi/K, or Yale with Ross/Col, or McComb with Duke" is the sole point of discord.
