I was also in same situation a while ago. I agree with all the valuable suggestions given by fellow members.

I would like to add couple of idea's that helped me.

1. Follow the quant expert's especially Bunuel's solutions. One can learn a great deal from his posts. Try to solve all the question's that bunuel post in quant forums.

2. GMAT Club CATs are one of the best and hardest for quant, so don't worry much if you score less in initial tests. But what important is proper review of the questions attempted.

3. There are few very good posts that are created specifically to get higher score's in quants such as Quant megathread by bunuel and All you need for quant pages. I have added those links in my signature and i visit these pages daily.

4. Check out the page 'Ultimate Q51 Guide' which has very good information about how to achieve Q51 in GMAT Quant.

All the best for your preparation

Hi sateesh611,

Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's likely that you just have not put in enough time and effort yet to have scored higher. That having been said, many Test Takers who use a 'book heavy' study approach end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level (and since your studies have been book heavy so far, it's possible that this has happened to you as well).

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Have you taken any other CATs besides that initial CAT? How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
2) What is your overall goal score?
3) What Business Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thank you Rich for the response. I am kind of stuck on what needs to be done here. Below are the responses. I started taking gnat club math tests very recently (3 tests only) and its been a good learning experience.
1. No. I did not take any other full length CAT because i hqvebt started working on verbal yet.
2. My goal is to score around 700
3. I am applying for foster school and probably Duke.

Hi sateesh611,

Even though you have not studied much for the Verbal section so far, it's still important to take FULL-LENGTH CATs at regular intervals (since there are Test-taking skills that take time to develop, but that can really only be learned by taking CATs over time). In addition, some of the skills that you've developed during your Quant studies will apply to how you handle the Verbal section - and it's important to see how well you've honed your overall skills at this point. As such, I strongly recommend that you take one of the Official GMAT CATs and take it in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.
