That's a surprising result. Hopefully you can identify the areas that were troublesome for you and improve before the retake. Perhaps you were just nervous?

ya it was pretty disappointing after all the time I put in and the results I was seeing. Not really sure what went wrong though.

How do you rate the GPrep Verbal and OG-12 verbal vis-a-vis GMAT Verbal?

I didn't do much OG-12 Verbal, mainly MGMAT SC and MGMAT CAT/Gprep CAT

I'd say they are pretty similar, I hit a really hard RC passage that I spent too much time on trying to get "all" correct answers and suffered because of it. In hind sight I probably should have just made a guess or two and moved on. CR are VERY similar, SC not as much, RC are similar to Gprep, but not Mgmat (mgmats are much longer)

Unlucky day I guess... happens to the best of us. Use this experience as a learning process and kill the gmat next time !

do not lose hope. especially since you have an amazing practice track record.

I have been very good at CR when i used top practice it from OG 11 about a month ago, recently while practising Princeton review verbal bins, i am performing really badly.

Can anyone help me out here??

Where do you get Princeton review verbal bins? Is this online or paper material?

one positive about my score, scored a 5.5 on the AWA! hah

I still haven't started studying again for my next gmat attempt tho, hopefully i get motivated again soon!

Well GmatClub, I'm back hah
I finally feel like getting back into studying for the gmat again. and I'm far past the disappointment from the first attempt.

I did some thinking into what went wrong during the test, because I don't think it was "stress"
I decided my problem was that I didn't study the "right" way.

As far as Q, I only studied the harder questions, only reviewed or learned material that I thought was the MOST difficult, because I wanted a 700+. Even when I would miss easier questions, I usually only did a quick review and decided it was easy and moved on and usually didn't even add it to my error log. This was my BIGGEST mistake. If my CAT started with an easy Q that I wasn't familiar with, I would likely miss it, and my score would take a hit from the very beginning. Sure once I got into tougher questions I would be able to answer 700-800 level questions, but I think it was the fact that I occasionally missed 300-500 level questions that made my testing inconsistent.

Also for Q, my CR skills were very inconsistent. sometimes I would pick up the answer immediately, other times I would have no clue. Which makes me think I REALLY need to work on my CR strategy...

For V, I'm not quite sure how I scored as low as I did in Verbal on the actual attempt. My gut feeling is that I relied on getting 100%RC and 100%CR to compensate for missing 5 or so SC. During the actual test I hit a LONG and hard RC, hardest I had ever seen. I think I just got unlucky on this passage, BUT if I missed 2 or 3 in that RC passage I should have received easier SC questions for the next few, but since I didn't have a firm understanding of SC, I usually miss the same % no matter what difficulty I ran into. Which wouldn't help my score. I'm confident that my CR and RC skills are about as good as I can get them, but I definitely need to put some more work into SC, so that I don't have to rely on perfect CR and RC.

I'm not sure when I will sit for the test again. I don't do well with long study schedules, so it will likely be less than a month, depending on my schedule.
