Do not go for any other materials , look out for your mistakes , try improving or changing your approach towards questions . No video or book can help until you understand where you went wrong . Go through og one more time , look for two things - how you approached and how the gmat guys did , write it down , if your approach was incorrect , i bet this would help you . And its easy , eventually you will be able to connect the dots . All the best !!

Hi ParulSaini,

With a V23, you would have lost significant points in all 3 major Verbal categories (SC, RC and CR) - so it might take longer than 2-3 weeks for you to significantly improve in all 3 areas. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Re: GMAT verbal improvement [#permalink]
1) I have been studying for 4 months for GMAT.
2) OG, verbal n quant review, Manhattan SC, Powerscore, e-gmat portal
3) Q49/Q50 n V27/V29/V32.
4) Goal Score- 700+
5) In first cycle to some colleges if I score well and enough time before deadline to complete the application.
6) ISB(India), Michigan(Ross), Duke, Tuck, Cornell

So far I have observed that I am a bit slow in solving verbal for I take time to apply the approach. Any good method to get my basics right n I am able to identify any errors in SC or any linkage/prethinking method/shortcuts in CR ASAP for practice. I just want to improve my speed with good accuracy.

Hi ParulSaini,

In many cases, raising a 610 to a 700+ would likely take another 2 months of consistent guided study. Since you're focused just on the Verbal section, you could conceivably hit that goal in less time - IF you were able to properly change how you "see" (and respond to) the Verbal section. Your Official GMAT Score is from just 2 days ago, so we have to use THAT score as our reference point (meaning that a 650 from a prior practice CAT is not as meaningful as the 610 you just scored on the Official GMAT - and that the goal to raise that score to a 700+ in just 2-3 weeks is likely too difficult to be considered realistic).

From the information that you've provided, it sounds like you might be flexible about applying to Business School in either Round 1 or Round 2, so you might want to consider giving yourself more study time (so that you can increase your chances of scoring significantly higher on the GMAT).

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?
