Got 7 on IR with no study on GMAT Prep should I still prepare for IR?

Question

I have my GMAT in a few days and while trying to take a full-length test I got a 7 on the IR without studying for it at all. Do you still recommend studying for IR?
Is the GMAT Prep IR representative of the IR on the real exam?

A 7/8 on Gprep is considered good but from personal experience real test day could pose more hurdles. For example, if you are planning to appear for the test in Q-V-AWA/IR or V-Q-AWA/IR order, you would most likely be exhausted post the ordeal and also possibly impatient to know your score which could affect the IR section ( which would be the last section in this scenario) and in reverse order if AWA/IR-Q-V is your preference than your mind could be preoccupied on the sections to come.

It would not hurt to go over a few strategies and solve a few questions to overprepare a bit to counter the real test anxiety factor that you most likely did not encounter in the comfort of your home ( I'm assuming you practiced in a relaxed manner as most people do )

Do spend a few hours on the IR section  when you're taking a break from quant and verbal prep.

I agree with the post above. Getting 7 in mock doesn't guarantee that you'll get the same score on the real exam as the IR questions stems can be quite tricky.

Solving a few IR questions is unlikely to be a problem, but make sure that it does not affect your quant and verbal. Those sections are much more important than IR.

Assuming that you took the CAT (and this IR section) in a realistic fashion, then this result shows that you're a strong overall critical thinker - meaning that you probably don't need to do any additional work on IR.

Since you're just a few days from your Official Exam, you should limit your studies to general practice and light review (NO CATs and NO 'cramming') - you would be better served by getting some extra rest so that you can go into Test Day calm, clear-headed and ready to work.

I found that my IR scored varied on the practice tests a fair bit, so ended up spending a couple of hours on it and ended up with a 7 on the official. I imagine it's only a flag for schools if you score really low, so don't stress too much about it. A few hours work (similar to the essay) should prep you enough!
