Brand-new SC problem for all the lovely people of GMAT Club.
Looks like there's this new "deferred answer" feature... I'm going to try this out, with a 24 hour delay. (:

'physically' should not modify 'vomiting.' One cannot mentally vomit. Modifying 'vomiting' with 'physically' doesn't make sense.
What is meant is that the horses are not physically capable of vomiting (say they lack a certain muscle group that pushes food back out).
Hence (A) and (C) are incorrect.
In option (B), 'thus' is redundant. Comma + verb-ing at the end anyway gives the effect of the previous action.
Also, the use of 'starving' is not correct. We need the noun form 'starvation.' The culprits are the actions of starvation and poisoning.
Note that 'starving' and 'poisoning' are not parallel.
They are starving.
They are poisoning.
Doesn't work.
They died of starvation.
They died of poisoning.
Works.
Option (E)
Horses are physically unable to vomit, a suggestion that the horse’s evolutionary ancestors faced more danger from starvation than from poisoning.
'a suggestion' is renaming the previous clause 'horses are physically unable to vomit.'
But this is not a suggestion. It is an observation, a fact. This fact suggests what follows.
Horses are physically unable to vomit, a fact that suggests their ancestors ...
Option (D) corrects all these problems.
