water tank is being filled at a rate of 2 cubic feet per minute

tank is also leaking at a rate of 0.1 cubic feet every 10 seconds = 0.6 cubic feet per minute

Net water being filled in the tank = 2 - 0.6 = 1.4 cubic feet per minute

Volume of the tank = 7 * 2 * 2 = 28 cubic feet

hours will it take to fill the tank = 28/1.4 = 20 minutes = 1/3 hour

Answer is C. 1/3

Inflow rate into the tank: 2 cubic feet/min;
Leakage: 0.1 cubic feet/ 10 seconds which is nothing but 0.6 cubic feet/min
Hence, Effective inflow: 1.4 cubic feet/min
Now, volume of the tank: 7ft*2ft*2ft = 28 cubic feet
Therefore, time taken to fill the tank: 28 cubic feet/ 1.4 cubic feet/min i.e 20 minutes which is nothing but 1/3 hours.
Hence, the correct option is option C.

Rate of Inflow of water = 2 cu ft/ min
Rate of Outflow of water = 0.1 cu ft/10 seconds = 0.6 cu ft/min
Net rate of inflow = 2 - 0.6 = 1.4 cu ft/min
Volume of the tank = 7 * 2 * 2 = 28 cu ft
Time taken to fill the tank = volume to be filled/ rate = (28 cu ft)/ (1.4 cu f/min) = 20 minutes
Since the question asks for answer in hours, answer = 1/3 hour Option C
