Re: If (d -3n)/(7n - d) = 1 which of the following statements describes [#permalink]

If \(\frac{(d -3n)}{(7n - d)}= 1\) which of the following statements describes d in terms of n?

A. d is 4 less than n.

B. d is 4 more than n.

C. d is \(\frac{3}{7}\) of n.

D. d is 2 times n.

E. d is 5 times n.

Given

\(\frac{(d -3n)}{(7n - d)}= 1\)

d-3n = 7n-d

2d = 10n

d = 5n.

So, d is basically 5 times of n.

The best answer is E.

\(\frac{(d -3n)}{(7n - d)}= 1\)

Or, \(d - 3n = 7n - d\)

Or, \(2d = 10n\)

Or, \(d = 5n\) ,Answer must be (E)

Simplifying and solving for d, we have:

d - 3n = 7n - d

2d = 10n

d = 5n
