Re: If f(x) = x + 5 and f(2g) = 19, what is the value of f(3 g)? [#permalink]

Given that f(x) = x + 5 and f(2g) = 19 and we need to find the value of f(3 – g)

To find f(2g) we need to compare what is inside the ( ) in f(2g) and f(x)

=> We need to substitute x with 2g in f(x) = x + 5 to get the value of f(2g)

=> f(2g) = 2g + 5 = 19 (given)
=> 2g = 19 - 5 = 14
=> g = \(\frac{14}{2}\) = 7

=> f(3 – g) = f(3 – 7) = f(-4)
=> f(-4) = -4 + 5 = 1

So, Answer will be B
Hope it helps!

If \(f(x) = x + 5\) and \(f(2g) = 19\), what is the value of \(f(3 – g)\)?

A. 0
B. 1
C. 2
D. 3
E. 4

First, we can determine g:

Since f(2g) = 19, we have:

2g + 5 = 19

2g = 14

g = 7

So, the value of f(3 - g) = f(3 - 7) = f(-4) is:

-4 + 5 = 1
