Equation of line passing through the given points (-4,7) and (14,k) is:

\(y-7=\frac{k-7}{14-(-4)}*(x-(-4))\)

Since this line passes through origin(0,0), hence

\(0-7= \frac{k-7}{18}*(0+4)\)
Or, \(k-7=\frac{-7*18}{4}\)
Or, k=-31.5+7=-24.5

\(\frac{K}{7} = \frac{14}{-4}\)

K = \(\frac{14 * 7}{ -4} = -24.5\)

If the line passes through the origin, what is the value of k?

When a line passes through the origin, its equation becomes y=mx where m is the slope of the line

For 1st point
=>7=-4m i.e. => m = -7/4
For 2nd pint
=> k=14m =14*-7/4 = -24.5
