Solution



Given:
• In the given figure, PQ = ST and QR = RS

To find:
• The value of x

Approach and Working:
    • As PQ = ST and QR = RS, we can say PQ + QR = ST + RS
      o Or, PR = RT
    • Now if we consider the triangle PRT,
      o Angle RPT = angle RTP [as RP = RT]
      o Angle PRT = 80
    • If angle RPT = angle PRT = x, then we can write,
      o 80 + x + x = 180
      Or, 2x = 100
      Or, x = 50

Hence, the correct answer is option B.

Looks like 50, because PR = RT and (180-80)/2 = 50

Given, PQ=ST and QR=RS. Hence, PR=RT, which makes angle PTR = angle TPR

Therefore, 2x+80=180
x=50

Hence, the answer is B.

x = S by the property (Corresponding angles are equal)

From ∆RQS, QR = SR (given), hence S=Q by the property (angles opposite to equal sides are equal).
80+S+R = 180,
2S=100, then S = 50 = x
