Don't always think that people from China and that part of the world always make up stories to get into business schools.

I live in Asia and I am very familar with China and know many people who live there. While not every single one of them lie in apps, I can confidently say that the majority of them do. AdComs agree with me.

It's like saying, not every single person in China buys pirated dvds. Yeah but 99.9% does.

ditto!

I am not pointing fingers to anyone or any particular group of people.
But people in most part of Asia (including Korean, China ,and India but excluding Japan) are very well known for cheating on ETS/GMAC/other exams and lying, or one can say exaggerating, on the apps. Southern Asian parts are even worse!... Indonesia is a good example!

It is like a cultural thing. I am not trying to defend this but many folks who do these kind dishonoring things don't even feel guilty when they cheat. Cheating has been a part of their way of lives. I noticed that they have different views on what we call "cheating"

But I am hopeful that people will change as time goes by.

i hope i didn't offend any asians here.

I think it is very difficult not to take offense to such general un-substantiated statements.

what is the rationale behind this assertion? If it is so very well known that asians cheat on standardized tests, then why aren't they caught? I think it is ridiculous and surprising that people who are matriculating to solid b-schools and are potential business leaders, make such irresponsible comments. Of course, like you, I also dont mean any offense.

No offense taken. I am one of your fellow asian.

I admit that I was bit too blunt. Nevertheless, you need to know the reality.

When I say "cheating" means any means that are not legit. When we take the GMAT we promise to GMAC that we will not share/effuse/outflow any problems from the exam. I know that many students get their hands on these actual GMAT problems. Heck, in fact some well-known instructors take the exam frequently so that they can share the problems w/ their students.

I would like to think that you are naive instead of ignorant of what’s going on other there.
I praise this GMATclub for doing everything possible to avoid any legal issues and inappropriateness. I know many other sites that you can get many “stolenâ€

Discussion closed. Sorry everyone. It is just impossible to have a serious debate about such a subject over the internet. Before long, it becomes personal and then the whole subject of the debate is long forgotten.

It is nice the died4me can be so forthcoming about the problems that everyone knows exists. My personal opinion is that people are the same everywhere; whether its the Dean of MIT or students cheating in B-Schools or on the GMAT.
