Hello Guys, I've also been shorlisted for second round.

And how should I one decide which exam to give i.e. GRE or GMAT?
I've prepared for CAT, so will I be benefitted if I go with GMAT?

aayushi2712 Which coaching institute have you joined and what is the duration of the course?

Hi everyone,

Congrats to all those who made it to the 2nd stage for the YLP. I was in your shoes last year and was one of the few to receive an offer. If you all have any questions, please feel free to ask them and I'll do my best to help! :)

We will have to write a 300 word essay on : ' How do you see your career developing and how will ISB help you achieve your goals?'

Any tips on how our application should be?

I can offer you guys some advice on the essay.

Talk about the following points in the essay:

1. Your motivation/ passion to achieve a professional goal.

2. what is that professional goal?

3. How can you achieve it? which company will you work for post MBA? what role will you play there and what will you learn? How will this help your career advance?

4. In order to achieve this post MBA objective, which skills have you already gained via your internships and academic coursework? Which skills, tools and knowledge do you lack and how will ISB help you cover that gap?

Hope this helps

Hello, I have a few questions and it would be really great if you could help us out

- How do you think we should approach our essay? Are there specific qualities/skills they look for? How was your approach to it

- The GMAT. I'm planning to start preparations from next week. How/Where do you think I should start and how should the preparation go?

- Evaluator. Who do you think would be an ideal choice for an evaluator? A professor who has taught us or the manager that of the company who I'm interning with? Which would appeal more to the AdCom ?

And Thankyou for coming forward and helping us :D <3

I think GMAT will benefit you but if your vocabulary is quite good GRE is a good option. Again GRE takes into account the career options in the field of technology whereas GMAT is inclined towards business. So look into that domain as well!

I joined Career launcher. The course is for about 2-2.5 months.

Hello. Thanks for helping us out! I have a few questions -

1. Regarding the evaluation of the profile! It would be great if you could give an insight on this.
2. GMAT - What is a good score for YLP?
3. Lastly does the essay need to be in touch with our personality? I mean do we have to write it in a more formal tone or in a mixed tone - both formal and informal?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hello Guys! Even I have been shortlisted for round 2 in the YLP program too. Do you have any idea about the favoured GMAT Score and also, is it okay even if the Gmat score is between 650-690 but the essay's good enough.
I'm gonna give my gmat on the 30th but I barely crossed 550 in the prep tests. Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed with the prep?
Thank You.

Thank you for your interest. :-)
Can you please run us through the procedure, where to concentrate on?
On average what should be our GMAT score to cross through it?
Will GRE also suffice?
What are the important pinnacles in our application procedure?

Hi ,

I have also been shortlisted for the IInd stage of the YLP of ISB. I am planning to take the GMAT in August.
Are there any specific pointers to keep in mind while writing the essay ?

PS: I already have a GRE score of 325. Do i need to take the GMAT. I am skeptical of the GRE score cause it is kind of average and I took the exam randomly. I want the best score to reach these people.. so..

Hi sidsst

- A GRE score of 325 is competitive. You do not need to retake this, unless you feel you significantly underperformed and can raise it to 330+ (or get an equivalent GMAT score by taking that test).
- For ISB YLP stage 2 essay tips please look at this link: https://www.gyanone.com/blog/isb-ylp-stage-2-essays/

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.

Hi Aman

Yes, this score is comparatively low and will hit your chances. ISB's GRE range for this year's class is 311-335, so you are a bit below that (although the range will change slightly every year). Also, YLP admissions are generally competitive on GRE/GMAT scores (as the work experience factor is absent), so your chances with this score will be low. Beyond that, don't know much about your profile so cannot comment - surprises do happen, and in case you happen to get an interview call, try and make the most of it.

Not completely. The GRE score has its own importance in the process.
