MS/MBA program [#permalink]
Hi everyone. How you're safe and doing well. I wanted to ask about the MS/MBA program at Harvard Business School collaboratively offered by Harvard Business School, and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Since the class profile (number of people per region, median GMAT, median GPA etc.) Is not mentioned on the website, can anyone tell me what the distribution usually is. Also, of the people who are selected, do they have an outstanding background pre-MBA, such as multiple patents, multiple publications in reputed journals, or multiple national/international awards.

Since the program currently accepts 30 students in a batch, I believe it is very competitive and wanted to have an idea about the candidates selected in terms of achievements and nationality before applying.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Hi KD1995
We, at ARINGO MBA Admissions Consulting have had 7 Harvard MSc/MBA successful applicants in the last 3 years (I think the programs has been going on for ~4 years now. in the first year, Harvard actually approached two of my MBA candidates and offered them the dual MBA MSc. that won't happen again...)
If you are looking for a pattern you won't find one. 2 of my candidates came from special army unites, and 2 from Tier 1 FAANG companies and 3 from I.T. backgrounds. Sadly, all 7 were male.
yes, you will need a high GPA and good GMAT, but remember that "stats" are just one part of your application. Your story of what you have done to date (and why!), your why MBA and why this degree reasoning and of course, you career goals and aspirations ae actually the most important part of any application, including this one

good luck!

You are right. Given the relative newness and class size for this program, it's going to be very hard to gather meaningful data. You should still attend information sessions/webinars held by the program to better understand what it entails and what the school generally looks for in its candidates.

Even if you had this information, what would it do? The caliber of candidates is going to be top notch - that shouldn't be a surprise. You can only really put forward your best application based on your core profile. The same advice is given to candidates just applying to the MBA program. If you are a McKinsey consultant from Princeton, you can't try to adjust your profile to classify yourself as a startup guru from Stanford.

The Class of 2025 MBA Application is Now Open

The Round 1 deadline is September 7, 2022, and Round 2 applications are due on January 4, 2023.

For a second year HBS is offering a need-based application fee waiver for both admissions rounds. If you’ve been wondering whether to apply to Harvard Business School, and the application fee presents a hardship for you, please consider submitting a fee waiver request to get the process started!

I understand your concern and trust me you aren’t the only student to worry about the class profile of their dream school. It gets a bit overwhelming to be amongst the genius minds from all across the globe and you can feel a little lost. So it is always advised to do your research well in advance and stay prepared.

In terms of achievement and industry of work pre-MBA, the class profile at Harvard looks like this:
    Consulting: 17%
    Consumer Products/ Retail/ E-commerce : 9%
    Financial Services: 12%
    Healthcare/ Biotech: 7%
    Manufacturing/ Industrial/ Energy : 11%
    Media/ Entertainment/ Travel : 2%
    Military : 5%
    NonProfit / Government / Education : 8%
    Services : 3%
    Technology 11%
    Venture Capital / Private Equity : 15%
On an average, a work experience of 5 years in the industry is what is found in most students in the class of Harvard.

The geographical breakdown looks like this:
    New England-16.6%
    Middle Atlantic-20.7%
    South-18.3%
    Midwest-9.9%
    Central-1.8%
    Mountain-3.4%
    Pacific-13.2%
    Territories-0.5%
    International-15.6%

I hope this clears your confusion and gives you a headsup on what to expect once you get an admit from Harvard. Although, if you need any help with applying to Harvard or any other top B-school for that matter, we can help you.
