Hey guys,
i just started my 3 month GMAT preparation but not sure if my Diagnostic results (DAY 1 - Saturday 14th July 2012) are very mediocre or "OK for now" Types. :(
My aim is 700 + and from DAY 2 onwards, i'll be chalking out a proper plan in order to give myself a real shot at this.
I used one of my free GMATPrep practice exams to gauge my initial level and Here are my result details -

Scaled Score Percentile
IR 3 *
Q 42 59
V 22 27
Total 530 40

My real problem is Verbal as i myself feel that i did a lot of guess work in SC & RC.
Anyways, My one question to the expert community - Should I keep giving Mock GMAT exams every weekend or should i wait until all my Quant & Verbal training is complete. Please advise. Thanks!
- Ripon

Hi,

i will recommend you the following:--

Verbal

SC - Manhattan SC guide.

For i=1 to end
For i=1 to end
-> Study "chapter i"
-> go to grockit.com and schedule game for "chapter i" with difficulty level easy, If doing good then increase the difficulty to "medium" else go to next step
-> re-read the "chapter i" if you are doing bad
-> else goto next chapter and repeat the above steps.

CR - Powerscore Criticial Reasoning Bible

For i=1 to end
-> Study "chapter i"
-> go to grockit.com and schedule game for "chapter i" with difficulty level easy, If doing good then increase the difficulty to "medium" else go to next step
-> re-read the "chapter i" if you are doing bad
-> else goto next chapter and repeat the above steps.

RC - Start reading more!
Start reading more of
-> economist.com
-> scientificamerican.com
And anything related to hsitory and things which you don't like reading! (as am engineer so I dont like reading medical stuff)

Quant

-> Have never followed a book but heard a lot about Manhattan guides
-> practice a LOT on grockit.com!

Miscellaneous
-> Watch "Thursdays with RON" sessions!
-> go through posts in gmatclub and beatthegmat!
-> make study partners and discuss things!

After doing all this I will suggest you to start writing mock tests and once things look good then you can keep writing them!
Hope it helps!
Good Luck for your prep!

Doing practice exams every weekend is not going to help if you don't spend some real time focusing on your weak points, and working on them.

Also, you don't want to end up giving yourself false self confidence if you start to recognize answers and skewing your scores.

If your plan is to take the test in 3 months, I would think taking 2 practice exams each month should be sufficient. Definitely spend some time reading the Best GMAT stories thread: best-gmat-stories-period-98512.html#p759267

It'll help with the morale boost!
