Hi hffballer,

With a class-start in April, it sounds like you're relatively early-on in your studies. You'll find that this Forum is a fantastic place to post questions, receive advice and take advantage of the broad knowledge-base available.

1) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
2) What is your goal score?

Daily working hour*Regular Rate + Overtime*Increased Rate
7.5*4.5+ 3*4.5*1.5
Will end in .00 so only D and E left.
7*4+3*4*1=40, answer is slightly more that 40 hence 54 , Choice D

It's a word problem

So the equation formed is a follows:

7.5*4.5+(x-7.5)*6.75

Substitute x=10.5
And you get 54, which is D

Lloyd normally works 7.5 hours per day and earns $4.50 per hour. For each hour he works in excess of 7.5 hours on a given day, he is paid 1.5 times his regular rate. If Lloyd works 10.5 hours on a given day, how much does he earn for that day?

A. $33.75
B. $47.25
C. $51.75
D. $54.00
E. $70.00

We can create the following expression to determine what Lloyd is paid:

7.5 x 4.5 + 1.5 x 4.5 x (10.5 - 7.5)

33.75 + 6.75(3) = 33.75 + 20.25 = 54

Answer: D

Sorry but i'm new to the site. Why do you post the level of the question for some questions and not the others?

Hi hffballer,

When posting a GMAT prompt, you have the option to add 'tags' (so the prompt can be searched more easily later) which include the source of the question, the content involved and the difficulty level. Some posters choose to include this information while others do not.

1) You mentioned how you were new to this website, but how long have you been studying for the GMAT?
