While these types of arithmetic questions are fairly straight-forward, you can potentially save some time if you choose to do the 'math' in a slightly different way.

Given the information in the prompt, we can go about calculating Lloyd's pay with the following equation:

(7.5)($4.50) + 3(1.5)($4.50)

However, you can 'rearrange' the math a bit and do it this way instead:

7.5 hours + 3(1.5 hours) = 7.5 + 4.5 = 12 hours

(12 hours)($4.50)

You'll likely find the second calculation to be considerably faster than the first. With either approach, you'll still end up with the correct answer, but this goes to show that just because you can answer a question correctly doesn't mean that there might still be a way to improve on what you're doing.
