Hi experts !!

I have been taking certain mock tests but I am not being able to complete the sections. Yesterday I took the GMAT prep mock test and scored 530. The score got very low as I was left with around 10 verbal questions and 7 of quant.

Please tell me what is the penalty of skipping 1 question.

Hi SonalSinha803 ,

Here is the thing. No one in the world can answer you this question except GMAC themselves.

As far as I know, leaving a question answered may lead to varying negative marking.

Logically, I am doing very good and I encounter a question of 700+ level and I miss answering it, I may have more negative marking than if I would have left a question of low difficulty level.

Again, this is my assumption and I might be wrong.

Please note that it is strictly not recommended to leave any question answered.

All the best :)

Hi
As per the various discussions in this forum and the feedback received from some testprep companies, leaving a question gives you more penalty than answering a question wrong. Hence, it is strongly recommended to try not to leave any questions at the end. It is hard to tell what is the penalty for skipping 1 question.

Hello Sonal,

Its very simple logic, If you skip any question then its considered as a wrong answer.

In your case, you have skipped 10 Verbal and 7 Quant, GMAT Software calculated your score in -ve for those 17 Questions.
Its better to answer those questions as it may chance by luck few of those question may right.

I hope you understood what I have to convey.
