Hello guys,
My name is Raman Singh and I am from Houston, TX. I'd like to share my background in just a few sentences before I jump into my questions. I am 2 days away from finally getting my Bachelors in Finance, I just turned 24 last Friday, and I am working for one of the fortune 100 companies in the world in their rotational analyst program.
A little background about me - I started college at the age of 18 and didn't get serious till I was 21 years old. Ever since I decided to get back to school, I have been working full-time in the financial industry, worked additional on weekends, and went to school full-time (12-15 hours per semester, including summer). My College of Business GPA is roughly near 3.5, however my cumulative GPA is horrible - merely 2.9 because of my dumb negligence years back.
I just passed one of the toughest securities entrance exam (while taking full load of summer senior level classes) in which the failure rate is about 65% during the first try. Basically, I'm trying to show here is that I have the proper etiquette, good study habits, and devotion; but don't have the best GPA or graduation from the top 20 undergrad schools in the US.
English is my second language and I have a strong weakness in vocabulary. I want to take the GMAT and understand I might have to study more than some of the talented individuals that are out there. My goal is to score 690+ on the GMAT so I can apply for the top 20 MBA programs and will also be willing to quit my current job (which was an honor to be presented with).
I'd like your honest feedback and opinion based on my background. I want to study for GMAT and will do anything possible to get the score I desire. Do you guys recommend taking live crash courses along with the study material? Or any additional supplements? My estimated time to study for the GMAT is about 100-120 hours + live crash course, if applicable or necessary.
Thanks for feedback in advance!
