Dear
rai89,
I'm happy to respond.
Unfortunately, your question is quite naive with respect to the
Computer Adaptive Testing employed on the GMAT. Please read this blog for a detailed description:
https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/what-is-th ... tive-test/Given the complexity of the algorithm, it could be the case that one student got, say, a 750, and another student got, say, a 520, and both got about the same number of questions correct on each section. Number of questions right or wrong misses the point: it's all about the relative difficulty of the questions you get right and get wrong. If you get easy questions right and hard questions wrong, the test will feed you several mid-level questions, and you will get some right and some wrong as it hones in your level; that will lead to a mediocre score. If you get all the easy & hard questions right, the computer will feed you super-hard questions, and you will still get many of these wrong, but that pattern will lead to an elite score.
Does all this make sense?
